After a dominating sweep of the Janesville Jets this past weekend, Wisconsin Windigo assistant captain Zach Cline was recognized as one of the NAHL stars of the week. He was named Midwest Star of the Week for his three-goal, one-assist performance in the two home games.
Cline joins teammates Lucas Szyszka, Logan Nickolaus and Braydon Beahm as the four Windigo players to be honored already this season.
The Michigan native scored one goal in Friday night’s 4-1 victory while tallying two goals and one assist in a shutout win Saturday. He also finished the weekend with a +4 rating.
“Cline had a great weekend with 3 goals and 1 assist – certainly deserving of Midwest Player of the Week honors,” said head coach John Mitchell after the weekend sweep.
On top of the offensive production, Cline was on the ice to help kill nine Jets powerplay chances throughout the weekend.
Cline has shown his unselfishness this season. He leads Wisconsin with 25 assists, is second with 38 points, and is third with 13 goals.
The Windigo sit in first place in the Midwest Division with a 30-10-1-2 record and 63 points. The Anchorage Wolverines and Fairbanks Ice Dogs are tied for second place with 56 points through 40 games.
Wisconsin returns to action at home versus the Springfield Jr. Blues Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22, with both games slated for 7 p.m.
