Rhinelander man sentenced in battery case
Jordan Bessa, 29, of Rhinelander, appeared by video for a plea/sentencing hearing on one felony charge of substantial battery. Bessa pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 12 months in jail, concurrent with the term he is already serving at Dodge Correctional. The offense occurred on March 8, 2026.
Alfred Hagen, 37, of Lac du Flambeau, appeared for a plea/sentencing hearing on one felony charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and one felony bail jumping charge. The possession charge was dismissed but read into the record for sentencing. Hagen pled guilty to the bail jumping charge (time served), with $518 in court costs payable to the Clerk of Courts.
In a separate case, Hagen was given three years’ probation after pleading guilty to a felony charge of possession of narcotic drugs. Judge Martha Milanowski stayed a sentence of one year of confinement and two years of extended supervision, which Hagen would serve in the case of revocation.
Ayla Sunn, 39, of Lac du Flambeau, appeared for a plea/sentencing hearing on one felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and one felony bail-jumping charge. Sunn pled guilty to the possession charge, but the bail-jumping charge was dismissed and read into the record for sentencing. Judge Daniel Overbey imposed and stayed a sentence of nine months in Vilas Jail, with two years of probation and conditions. There were 15 days of presentence credit in the case of revocation. Sunn also pled guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge and was given one year of probation, concurrent to the above case.
