Edward Evert, 55, of Eagle River, pleaded guilty to one felony charge of first-degree recklessly endangering safety at a plea hearing in Vilas County Circuit Court last week. A presentence investigation was ordered by Branch 2 Judge Daniel Overbey. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for January 13, 2025.
Gabriel Thompson, 33, of Lac du Flambeau, waived his preliminary hearing last week on one felony count of manufacturing/delivering fentanyl. A not-guilty plea was entered by the court. A bond modification motion was also denied during the hearing. A jury trial may be set at the next judicial pretrial which is set for Nov. 19, at 8:45 a.m.
James Lincoln, 35, of Minocqua, was sentenced to three years of probation for a fourth-offense felony OWI at his plea/sentencing hearing.
Conditions of the probation period include eight months of conditional jail, AODA assessment and follow-through, maintaining absolute sobriety, 36 months of revocation, an ignition interlock device, and $4,201 in fines plus other costs totaling $6,488.27, payable to the Clerk of Courts.
James Armstrong, 36, of Lac du Flambeau, had his bond amended to a $500 signature bond with conditions at a motion hearing on one felony count of methamphetamine.
Conditions of the signature bond include having no hypodermic needles, maintaining absolute sobriety, not possessing or consuming intoxicants, not being in a tavern or a tavern portion of a restaurant except for employment purposes, not possessing, using, or ingesting illegal drugs, and not taking any prescription drugs unless prescribed.
A judicial pretrial was scheduled for Oct. 29, at 8:45 a.m.
Brooke Bennett, 32, of Eagle River, appeared for her preliminary hearing on one felony count of possession with intent of fentanyl and one felony count of possession with intent of cocaine. Detective Sergeant Logan Pontbriand from the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office provided testimony and identified Bennett during the testimony.
An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Oct. 9, at 10 a.m.
Brian Thomas, 36, of Eagle River, will have a plea/sentencing hearing scheduled for Nov. 26, at 3:30 p.m., on several felony charges in three separate cases. Charges include possession of THC, retail theft, multiple bail-jumping charges, and a misdemeanor. Bond was continued for the case.
Gerald Lakota, 53, of Freeport, Ill., appeared for a judicial pretrial hearing on two felony charges, one being an OWI and the other being operating with prohibited alcohol concentration. A jury trial was scheduled for Jan. 9, 2025, starting at 8:30 a.m. A status hearing is up next on Nov. 1, at 9:45 a.m.
Wenonah Soulier, 33, of Lac du Flambeau, pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing last week on one felony charge of first-degree reckless homicide/delivering drugs. A judge substitution motion was also denied in a few other cases for Soulier. A judicial pretrial was set for Dec. 4, at 10 a.m., for this case.
Jacob Thoms-Bent, 27, of Lac du Flambeau, did not appear for one felony count of methamphetamine possession and one felony bail jumping count.
The court authorized a body-only bench warrant and ordered the $5,000 signature bond to be forfeited. A review hearing was scheduled for Oct. 23, 2025.
