Northland Pines senior Kylie Lester, a varsity soccer player for the Eagles, now just plays soccer at Northland Pines, but used to also compete on a mountain biking team up until her junior year. When she’s on the pitch, she works to keep the team as tightly-knit as possible for the underclassmen, since that’s how the seniors made the team feel when she was a freshman. Outside of sports, Lester enjoys what the Northwoods outdoors has to offer, whether that be camping or having fires. Here is more on the Northland Pines senior:
Do you have a nickname that your friends or family call you?
“My family calls me ‘Kylie Kat’. My dad started calling me that when I was little, and it has stuck with me ever since then.”
Do you participate in any other sports besides soccer?
Is there a personal goal you had on the field this year?
“My personal goal on the field this year was to make the group of incoming freshmen feel welcome and like they have a family within this team. This was important to me because that is what the senior class did for me when I was a freshman, and it really made an impact on me.”
What other hobbies do you have outside of sports?
“Outside of sports, I enjoy camping with my family, having campfires with my friends, really just doing anything outdoors.”
Favorite vacation spot that you’ve been to?
“My favorite vacation spot is Inlet Beach, Fla. I really enjoyed how it felt like a close-knit community, just like how the Northwoods feels.”
Do you have a pregame ritual that helps you before your games?
“My pregame ritual would be dancing with my teammates, especially when it is really cold, to stay warm. It puts us all in a good mood before the game starts.”
Do you have any plans for after high school? College?
