Sprecksel Slaughterhouse will return for its 13th season Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30–31, at 422 Abner St. in Rhinelander, with a portion of proceeds benefiting local veterans through VFW Post 3143.
The volunteer-built haunted attraction will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. both nights, with additional family-friendly hours from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $7 per person, with an optional $13 upgraded experience.
A portion of regular admission proceeds will benefit VFW Post 3143, while 100% of proceeds from the upgraded experience will go directly to the organization. VFW members will also sell concessions on site.
This year's theme, “13,” features an atmosphere inspired by 1980s neon, graffiti and grunge. Visitors can expect a variety of haunted scenes, unexpected encounters and Halloween scares.
Built by local volunteers with support from area businesses and community members, Sprecksel Slaughterhouse has grown into an annual Halloween tradition in the Northwoods.
“Halloween has always been a family tradition for us, and Sprecksel Slaughterhouse has grown into something much bigger than we ever imagined,” the Sprecksel family said in a statement. “Every year, family members travel from all over Wisconsin and Illinois to help bring the haunt to life, alongside an incredible group of community members who give their time, talents and creativity.”
The family said four generations are involved in creating the attraction each year.
“Being able to take something our family loves and use it to give back to our community makes it even more meaningful,” the family said. “This year, partnering with VFW Post 3143 gives us the opportunity to support the men and women who have served our country.”
Families with children are encouraged to attend during the designated family-friendly hours. The after-dark haunt is not recommended for children.
