There are two upcoming Memorial Day services set in the Phelps area.
The Congregational United Church of Christ in Phelps will hold its annual Memorial Day service Sunday, May 18, at 9 a.m.
American Legion Auxiliary 464 will pay tribute to fallen military members.
This year, the service will also include a presentation on the Korean War, including its history, heroes, and consequences.
There will be a complimentary breakfast following the service.
Donations will be accepted for the Wounded Warrior in Action (WWIA) event set for Sept. 25-28. Wounded Purple Heart recipients from all over the country are given an all-expense fishing adventure with lodging and volunteer guides to the WWIA Eagle River Muskie Chal-lunge.
Another Memorial Day service will be held Monday, May 26, at 1 p.m. at the cemetery. It will include a roll call for the fallen, and flags will be presented to families of deceased service members.
Following the service, Phelps Historical Museum will host its annual open house, with a complimentary light lunch and refreshments until 3 p.m.
