Northern Waters Museum kicks off summer season with docent training

Posted

Ten volunteers gathered last Friday for the season’s first docent training session at the Northern Waters Museum, led by Land O’ Lakes Historical Society President Chris Tews.

These dedicated volunteers play a vital role at the museum during the summer months, offering visitors insights into history of the Land O’ Lakes area.

This year’s featured exhibition is Bent’s Camp on Mamie Lake. Founded in 1896 as a destination for sport fishing and hunting, Bent’s Camp Restaurant and Bar remains in operation more than 125 years later.

The Northern Waters Museum will open its doors to the public from late June through Labor Day weekend. Regular hours are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, and special tours are available.

The historical society will host an open evening on Thursday, June 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests are invited to meet board members and volunteers, enjoy refreshments, and explore the Bent’s Camp exhibition.
